What is Skin Analysis?
Visia™ Skin Analysis, is the first photographic imaging tool for the Skin, that provides objective measurements of the surface and subsurface facial skin conditions.
This technology makes it possible for a patient to receive facial rejuvenation and skin care treatments designed specifically for them.
How does Skin Analysis work?
The Visia™ Skin Analysis System captures multi-spectral photos of the face, examining the complexion for wrinkles, spots, pores, texture, porphyrins (evidence of bacteria in pores), UV spots (characteristic of photodamage, from overexposure to sun), pigmented spots and acne.
It also is able to grade a person’s skin features relative to others of the same age and skin type. Based on this profile, the patient's Anti-ageing or rejuvenation program will include optimized objective recommendations for ongoing skin care.
Visia imaging as an invaluable tool for monitoring all the skin layers and effectiveness of your skin care regime over time.
The report generated by the Visia includes the full analysis and recommendations for treatments/procedures.
The Visia uses Polarized Light to reflect off the skin surface and from the junction of epidermis and dermis. It is captured through another polarized lens and reflected back to the camera. This then travels through a colour filter to give the definition of the various facial features.
Features and benefits:
- determines the imperfections, sun damage, uneven texture and surface debris that indicates the present state of ones skin as well as assists in predicting deterioration
- Allows us to objectively recommend treatment and skin care programmes for each individual.
- Assists in monitoring progress and effectiveness of the treatments/Skin care products used
- Can aid in early detection of melanoma of the skin.
- Examines the skin for wrinkles, spots, pores, texture, bacteria and UV spots.
- Grades your skin features relative to your age & skin type.
Should I start Skin Analysis early?
Natural ageing, is a unfortunately a continuous process that usually begins in our mid-to late 20’s. Within our Skin, ollagen production reduces, and elastin, which enables skin to remain elastic also diminishes. Turnover of new healthy skin cells may decrease slightly.
Even though these changes usually begin in our 20s, the signs of internal ageing are not always visible to the naked eye for decades - hence the benefit of the Visia scan. The Visia™ system measures skin parameters that previously were evaluated subjectively, by the treating Doctor or therapist.
With the advent of this system, any patient is a candidate for analysis. Awareness of the damaging effect of UV radiation on our appearance helps reduce the risks for developing more dangerous skin problems later in life.
Even teenagers can now visibly see why sun tanning is detrimental to ones skin.
